Pat Travers 1st Album

Pat Travers 1st Album

There was a moment in the late 70s when Pat Travers was pretty big in UK. He'd first come over in 1976 supporting SAHB to promote this first album. I saw him on that tour at Newcastle City Hall and loved their set so much that I went to HMV the following day and bought the album. I own all his records but this remains my favourite. While its production values are a little flat and soft, the songs such as Makes No Difference and the unromantically titled Medley Part 1 & 2 are really inventive and exciting. Pat plays all the guitar, whereas later he'd employ the talents of shredtastic Pat Thrall. There's a cover of a JJ Cale song, Magnolia and a bit of Chuck Berry too. The record is a many hued beast.

So if you've not listened to it in a while, dig it out and give it a spin. It's 39 long years old but it's still a great rock album
