The Yardbirds - Five Live Yardbirds

The Yardbirds - Five Live Yardbirds

The Yardbirds are one of a small select few whose first album release was a live record. This came out in 1964 and is a raucous and loud affair with Eric Clapton playing the blues at the highest amplification possible at the time.

This was really the start of what we came to know as blues rock and the band have a place in the history of rock for influencing almost every bandfor the next 10 years.

I used to see copies of this record in junk stores in Newcastle in 1979/80 for 50p. Why I never bought them, I can't explain and it haunts me to this day. Why? Because an original pressing on the blue & black Columbia label is now worth £250 in mint condition.

Hard to get one in mint, of course but you do see VG/Ex copies for £150-175 quite often.
