Journey's Greatest Hits, which originally came out in 1989, this week became only the third album in the history of the Billboard to rack up 500 weeks on the album charts in USA. Bob Marley's Greatest Hits has chalked up 510, but do you know who has spent the most weeks on the chart? Yeah, you guessed it, Dark Side Of The Moon by Pink Floyd is way, way ahead of anyone else with an astonishing 937 weeks!! That means Journey will need to be on the charts for over eight more years to get close to them.
For such a long charting record, Journey's Greatest Hits peaked at a modest #10. It's been one of those albums that just sells and sells but has never had a really stellar sales week to push it to #1. Mind you, I don't suppose the band are complaining seeing as it's already sold 15 million in USA alone.
