Stephen Maynard "Steve" Clark (23 April 1960 – 8 January 1991) was an English musician. He was the lead guitarist and principal songwriter for the British hard rock band, Def Leppard, until 1991, when he died from alcohol poisoning. While a member of Def Leppard, Clark contributed to over 90% of the music. Clark and Pete Willis shared lead-guitar duties, and Clark was nicknamed "The Riffmaster" due to his amazing talent and ability to come up with some of the coolest guitar riffs in modern rock. Towards the end of the Pyromania recording sessions, Pete Willis was asked to leave and guitarist Phil Collen was recruited into the band to replace him. Clark and Collen quickly bonded, becoming close friends and leading to the trademark dual-guitar sound of Def Leppard. He and Clark became known as the "Terror Twins" in recognition of their close friendship and alcohol-fuelled antics off-stage.Part of their success as a duo was attributed by Collen to their ability to swap between rhythm and lead guitar, often both playing lead or both doing rhythm within the same song. The fact that they came from entirely different musical backgrounds also contributed to their unique guitar partnership. Clark was a classically-trained musician who knew the rules of music and could read and write music and understood the theory and science of the art, as well as studying/being influenced by Jimmy Page and Led Zeppelin, whereas Collen, like Willis, was self-taught and developed his fast, alternate-picking technique from studying Al Di Meola and listening to Jazz players. Steve Clark: "I do read and write and I know the rules of music which is great in a two-guitar band because we're so different in our approach to playing. Phil will play something if it sounds right, whereas I look at things and say: 'it's wrong to play that note; it's not musically correct.'” Whereas Collen stopped drinking alcohol during the mid-1980s in pursuit of a healthier lifestyle, Clark never managed to escape his addiction to alcohol.

Returns & Exchanges
Our return policy lasts 30 days. If 30 days have gone by since your purchase, unfortunately we can’t offer you a refund or exchange. Please use this form to instigate any return or exchange.
When returning an item it must arrive with us in it’s original condition and packaging. Obviously we allow you to try on your new shirt to ensure the size is right, but wearing it down the pub on a Friday night with the lads, getting it covered in Guinness and curry and then returning it for a different colour on Monday, well I’m afraid we just aren’t that generous!
If your item is in any way faulty then please contact us immediately and we will put it right. For clarity, faulty does not include beer and curry stains. If you would like to return your order for any other reason then please feel free to get in touch and we will do everything we can to ensure your request is dealt with quickly and efficiently.
When making a return, please place a copy of your invoice with the returned item and detail any information such as the reason for the return and any exchange requests such as size and colour. It is very difficult to track any returned items without the invoice as this contains all original order numbers and information.
All returns or exchanges should be sent to:
Unit 4, Premier Park
Once your return is received and inspected, we will send you an email to notify you that we have received your returned item. If a refund is required it will be processed, and a credit will automatically be applied to your credit card or original method of payment, this normally takes around 3 days.
Only regular priced items may be refunded, unfortunately sale items cannot be refunded.
If you are returning an item for exchange, such as size or colour then you will have to ensure that you cover the cost of the postage back to us. If, however, your item is faulty in any way then we are happy to cover the cost of the return.
