The Peanut Butter Conspiracy - Is Spreading (March 1967)
Hard to believe that bands like this were thought a threat to the American way and all that was good and decent. Landing somewhere adjacent to the Mamas and Papas with a bit of CSNY in places plus some reverby heavy psychedelia, Jefferson Airplane style.
This track was a hit, it got to #93. Is the anything more 1967 than 'Love is the grooviest thing up 'til now in the world'.
They got more far out on their second album but this debut has some great vocals and harmonies and there's a sunny innocence to its hippy vibe
