The Mystery Of Grand Funk Railroad

The Mystery Of Grand Funk Railroad
John Nicholson|

Grand Funk Railroad had significant chart success in the United States, particularly in the 1970s but in the UK only the single "Inside Looking Out" (1969) - peaked at #40. And we never played them at school - and we very clued up and even played Canada’s Mahogany Rush in 1975 and were no strangers to popular American bands that didn’t sell over here. I’ve often wondered why we hadn’t heard of them because if anyone would have it was us. We prided ourselves on being hip to such groups. The contrast is massive, proving success in one doesn't automatically mean you will be in the other over the water - ask Status Quo.
