We’ve been a bit absent for a couple of days but that’s because we’ve actually sold the house. Got a cash offer on Monday and so we went away for a couple days and found a lovely new house and had the offer we made on it accepted.
In an unusual move, it’s in Montrose which is 115 miles east and north on the coast. We chose it because firstly, the prices are super-reasonable but mainly because it seems to have a vibrant arts scene. It’s only a small place with a 10,000 population but fish made it wealthy 150 years ago and the legacy is some impressive mansions. It also has way more stroke services to access. I'm not giving up on improving and just need some help and advice. I can't get that here. For example, I just learned to use chopsticks with my right hand even though I'm left-handed and my left doesn't work.
It was built around 1920 and has recently been renovated after being unoccupied for a while. Now begins the logistics of moving which are to say the least, complicated. But we’ve got 2 months to sort it out. To be honest, moving the cat worries me more than anything else, knowing how territorial cats are. I hope he likes it.
There were times in the last 3 months when I thought we’d never sell it but then within 6 days it all changed and we’d sorted both the selling and buying. Just shows you how things can quickly change in life.
The logistics of moving are intimidating to say the least but at least the property we’re moving to is vacant so we aren’t caught up in a chain. There are so many components to life, uprooting them all is quite the task. You have to change so many addresses! Hopefully, after 24 moves in 45 years this will be the last one.
You don’t realise how much useless junk you’ve acquired until you move house. We decided to dump/sell anything we haven’t used in 6 months and have no plans to use. I like to think I’m a collector not a hoarder, but sometimes I do wonder if I’m actually a hoarder when I come across invoices from 1991. What have I kept them so long for and why, even now, do I find them so hard to dispose of? Probably because it feels like throwing away bookmarks in your life. But it’s not like I can do anything with a box of old invoices.
On top of all this, we’ve got to keep the business going. It’s been a quiet January but February always optimistically marks the end of winter so things should pick up as the sun returns.

Congratulations. I hope you will enjoy your move. Never beem to Montrose .
I’ve seen some parts of Scotland in the late 70’s. Bought an album by Third ear band in Dingwall . They were quite special.
Good luck to you bott and the cat.
Best wishes
Just read the jethro tull blog, realise how much I’ve neglected them, will revisit..fan of their 70’s output, but not much else, love the benefit and songs from the wood lp’s..
