Still no interest in the house. It’s been 2 and a half months now and everything seems very quiet. Of course you never know if it’s the estate agent's fault for not doing a good enough job or is just part of a general malaise or if it’s just bad luck. Worse still, there isn’t much you can do about it beyond lowering the price which we’re reluctant to do as it’s 25,000 below the Home Report as it is. The agent suggested it of course, to which I said , you can sell anything if it’s cheap enough. I mean, is that their best effort? Seems a bit of a blunt instrument and somewhat thoughtless. Is this what we’re paying for?
So we have steeled ourselves for a long wait. I know the right person will love it. It’s just not a typical place. If you want a bog standard place, it isn’t that. You’ve got to be an artist with an interest in growing your own food and who loves wildlife to really appreciate it. We’ve also have a spectacular view over the Firth Of Clyde. We thought all the records would be off-putting for normal people, so they’re in storage. I suppose it only takes one person to like it enough.
Being powerless is the worst of it. Running your own business, you’re used to taking the reins, for good or bad. Interestingly I put it on relevant Facebook pages and got a good response. You’d think the estate agent would do that wouldn’t you? Never having done this before, I’ve nothing to compare it to. Is this a typical experience, better or worse? I’ve no idea. My gut instinct is that the whole process is a rip off with everyone taking a slice of the pie from solicitor to photographer to the government. It all costs a fortune.
Our instinct is to just do it ourselves but we haven't a clue how you’d go about it and I sort of resent our ignorance being exploited by so many people. Doesn’t seem worth looking at a new house yet with us having to sell this first but you can’t help looking online, though we really shouldn’t as it just adds to the frustration. We keep telling ourselves to be patient but it’s hard when you want to move on and you’ve got plans that you want to put into action. But then again, it can only happen once.

Beautiful looking place John ..I’m surprised no one has snapped it up !!
I had trouble selling my dads house when he passed a couple of years ago..estate agents were rubbish, so after 3 months we got rid and found another agent, sold the house within 2 weeks..
