The Idiot Wind

The Idiot Wind
John Nicholson|

The idiot wind has been blowing hard this week. Another import duty along with endless other charges have made taking EU countries' orders impossible. So we’re stopping taking orders from the EU’s 27 countries from midnight Sunday.

It used to be so simple but then the hard of thinking voted for Brexit, presumably fully cogent of the consequences. Yeah, right. The pointless stupidity has robbed thousands of small businesses of thousands of pounds and of trade we spent 25 years building up. Thanks, you dummies.

So that’s made life very difficult, or rather, even more difficult. I could rant on about this slavish addiction to populist politics or cults but what would be the point? We’ll get by, we always do, but this is all so unnecessary. Do you think Brexit was the choice of those who would directly suffer? That they voted for making less money? Of course not. It was those who thought they had nothing to lose and went into it in complete ignorance of what it would mean

On a wider point, it worries me how easily people fall into believing this mendacious rubbish and how tenaciously some cling to it, even as the ship that was going to save them sinks, downing them.

If we could banish all the politicians that have done so much damage by appealing to people’s base instincts, we could just get along in peace and tolerance. We could reduce prices because import duties and tariffs would disappear. Everyone would be happy. Instead the opposite was voted for and the lunatics have taken over the asylum.

It’s hard not to grow weary of the ignorance and stupidity and all the hoops we have to jump through, all of the time. You’d have thought we’d have worked out how to live in peace and harmony by now, wouldn’t you? But instead we seem to learn nothing from history and endlessly repeat the same mistakes.

I shall have to play some Steve Hillage to restore my good mood.

Idiots have been running the asylum for a long long time and it shows no signs of changing for the better anytime soon…history should teach us one thing and that we learn from the mistakes of our past..to make a better future.
