It’s been relatively pain free, though it does seem to be difficult to persuade people that there is life beyond the 25th. Which is why we’re working on some new ideas and a bit of reorganisation.
Doesn’t 2026 seem vaguely incredible? I remember as a kid thinking it would be amazing that I’d be 39 in the year 2000 and now that seems ages ago. Those early years seemed to last forever. I remember the days before leaving school dragged on and on but now the years fly by.
That actually makes Xmas easier because it passes by so quickly! Here in Scotland, New Year is a bigger deal and I like that, though we overdosed on fireworks when we lived in central Edinburgh. 2026 looks like being a year of change, at least if we ever sell this house. It's a strange time because we’re selling the house, in a way we’ve disengaged from it and severed the emotional ties. So it feels like we’re not really living here.
As soon as we’ve moved I know we’ll forget all about being here. Tomorrow is always more interesting than yesterday, I guess. We were out doing my approximation of walking and it felt like we were tourists rather than residents of the area.
We’re having Xmas dinner in the Hard Rock cafe as you might imagine. Even though you’d be pushed to hear or see any hard rock in there (does that annoy you as much as it does me?)
If you’re celebrating on the 25th, enjoy yourself, if you’re not and hate the season, know that you’re not alone or in any way a killjoy.
