About the Product

Georgie Fame and Julie Felix teamed up for a major concert series titled "Fame in '67," which took place at London’s Saville Theatre starting on Boxing Day, December 26, 1966.

It was a significant event in the "Swinging London" scene of the time. The Saville Theatre, London was leased by Beatles manager Brian Epstein.

Originally scheduled for one week, the run was so successful that it was extended to two weeks, concluding in early January 1967.

The show was a high-profile "package" bill that featured Georgie Fame (and his band, the Blue Flames), Julie Felix, and the instrumental group Sounds Incorporated.

Notably, the opening act for these shows was a then-unknown newcomer named Cat Stevens, who had just released his debut hit "I Love My Dog."

The pairing was considered unique at the time because it blended Georgie Fame’s jazz-influenced R&B/pop style with Julie Felix’s American-born British folk style. At the time, Felix was often referred to as "Britain's First Lady of Folk," and Fame was coming off the massive success of hits like "Yeh, Yeh" and "Get Away."

The "Fame in '67" show is frequently cited as the platform that helped launch Cat Stevens' career to a wider audience.
