Gong was touring in support of their "Radio Gnome Invisible" trilogy (specifically the You album). The lineup featured the classic era including Daevid Allen, Steve Hillage, Gilli Smyth, Didier Malherbe, and Mike Howlett.
Isotope led by guitarist Gary Boyle was a premier British jazz-rock fusion band. At the time of this show, the legendary bassist Hugh Hopper (formerly of Soft Machine) had recently joined the band,
