We’ve been working on some 60s music designs.
Lovin Spoonful - They always remind me of being little in the mid-60s and for a time, they were hugely popular with 14 USA hits. 4 in the UK. Daydream and Summer In The City are still played on the radio today. The Youngbloods - Often overlooked now but they were consistently popular in America, if not in the UK, with 8 charting albums. The live album at #89 was the most popular. Humble Pie - one of my favourite bands. Loved how they transformed from largely an acoustic group to one of the era’s great rock bands. The Mamas And Papas - like the Lovin Spoonful, they’re quintessentially 60s and pull me back to being 6 or 7. This was an ad for their famous Monday, Monday single.
The Spencer Davis Group - Briefly, with Keep On Runnin’ and I’m A Man, they were popular with top ten hit singles here and in America and 3 top 10 albums in the UK. Launched Steve Winwood, of course. Spencer Davis, not so much. Dave Dee Dozy Beaky Mick And Tich - For a time around 1966-67 they were big in the UK with 5 top tens and a number one with a whip, only 3 minor hits in America. The Hollies - Only the Beatles sold more in the UK than the Hollies. Super sophisticated pop music that we took totally for granted at the time but was supremely crafted.
The James Gang - Through 3 different guitarists they were always excellent and I think embody the very best of the classic rock era in their songwriting and soloing. A .B. Skhy- One of those west coast acid blues rock bands that got signed, released two albums and then dissolved. Curly Cooke went to the Steve Miller Band and Howard Wales recorded with Jerry Garcia. Procol Harum - Because of A Whiter Shade Of Pale I bet you think they were successful. They were but they only charted with 4 albums in the UK and A Salty Dog at #27 was the best. Incredible String Band - An absolutely groundbreaking Scottish psychedelic folk band formed in Edinburgh in 1965. and one of the most unique and influential groups of the British counterculture and folk revival movements with 7 hit albums 66-71 in the UK and USA. Manfred Mann - Dowah Diddy was the first single ever bought for me when I was 3.
That’s just a few of our new designs of bands up to 60 years old!
