Technically a solo album, this 1969 release was effectively the first Mountain album. It's full of short, wonderfully riffy songs, interspersed with more gentle acoustic passages. Many tracks such as Dreams Of Milk And Honey, Long Red and Blood Of The Sun, would go on to find their way into most Mountain sets over the years.
Produced by Cream producer Felix Pappalardi, who also played bass, it's a simple and yet powerful sound which really hasn't dated. In fact, it sounds quite modern in it's simple dry, upfront power.
I've always felt Mountain were rather sneered at as just another power trio - but they remain one of my favourite heavy bands.
