John Coltrane The Believer T-Shirt
About the Product
The Believer is an early album by John Coltrane, released in 1964 on Prestige Records. It was recorded in 1957 and 1958, and features Coltrane on tenor saxophone, Red Garland on piano, Paul Chambers on bass, and Arthur Taylor on drums.
The album is a mix of hard bop and modal jazz, and features some of Coltrane's earliest compositions, including the title track, "Nakatini Serenade," and "Do I Love You Because You're Beautiful?"
Coltrane is beginning to explore the kind of modal improvisation that would become a hallmark of his later work.
The supporting musicians on the album are all top-notch, and they provide a solid foundation for Coltrane's solos. Garland's piano playing is particularly noteworthy, and he provides some beautiful accompaniment on the title track.
