Maximum Darkness is a live album by the brilliant Welsh psychedelic/progressive rock band Man and was released on the United Artists Records label September 1975. It was the second complete live album released by the band after Be Good To Yourself... and featured John Cipollina as special guest. Rumours that Micky Jones had to over-dub Cipollina€™s guitar, as it was out of tune, before the album could be released, are greatly exaggerated. Only one track, "Bananas", had to have his playing removed/replaced. Deke Leonard said: "Everything ... which sounds like Cipollina is Cipollina." I've always assumed it is Cippolina on the cover with an industrial looking whammy bar fixed to his SG.

Man were one of the first bands I really got into in 1974, aged 13. I just loved everything about them. Little did I know at the time was how influenced by west coast acid rock they were, especially Quicksilver Messenger Service. Indeed, Codine, on this album was a song recorded by QMS but which only found a release on the hippie movie soundtrack Revolution.

We used to play 7171551 very loud on the speakers in the school hall during lunchtime. One day a teacher who was not cool came up told us to turn it down and said we had been brainwashed into liking this awful noise. Way to be progressive, daddio. As soon as he was gone, we cranked it right back up.

The album spent two weeks in the UK album chart, peaking at No 25.

Returns & Exchanges

Our return policy lasts 30 days. If 30 days have gone by since your purchase, unfortunately we can’t offer you a refund or exchange. Please use this form to instigate any return or exchange.

When returning an item it must arrive with us in it’s original condition and packaging. Obviously we allow you to try on your new shirt to ensure the size is right, but wearing it down the pub on a Friday night with the lads, getting it covered in Guinness and curry and then returning it for a different colour on Monday, well I’m afraid we just aren’t that generous!

If your item is in any way faulty then please contact us immediately and we will put it right. For clarity, faulty does not include beer and curry stains. If you would like to return your order for any other reason then please feel free to get in touch and we will do everything we can to ensure your request is dealt with quickly and efficiently.

When making a return, please place a copy of your invoice with the returned item and detail any information such as the reason for the return and any exchange requests such as size and colour. It is very difficult to track any returned items without the invoice as this contains all original order numbers and information.

All returns or exchanges should be sent to:

DJTEES Unit 24, Emerald Way, Stone, Staffordshire, ST15 0SR, UK
