By the age of twenty, Cray had seen his heroes Albert Collins, Freddie King and Muddy Waters in concert and decided to form his own band; they began playing college towns on the West Coast. In the late 1970s he lived in Eugene, Oregon, where he formed the Robert Cray Band and collaborated with Curtis Salgado in the Cray-Hawks. In the 1978 film National Lampoon's Animal House, Cray was the uncredited bassist in the house party band Otis Day and the Knights. After several years of regional success, Cray was signed to Mercury Records in 1982. Two albums on HighTone Records in the mid-1980s, Bad Influence and False Accusations, were moderately successful in the United States and in Europe, where he was building a reputation as a live artist. His fourth album release, Strong Persuader, produced by Dennis Walker, received a Grammy Award, while the crossover single "Smokin' Gun" gave him wider appeal and name recognition. Under the pseudonym "Night Train Clemons", he recorded with Ted Hawkins in 1986. He was invited by Keith Richards to join the backing band for Chuck Berry in the 1987 film, Chuck Berry: Hail! Hail! Rock 'N' Roll, directed by Taylor Hackford. By now, Cray was an opening act for such major stars as Eric Clapton and sold out larger venues as a solo artist. Cray has generally played Fender guitars (Telecasters and Stratocasters) and there are two signature Robert Cray Stratocasters models available from Fender. The Robert Cray Custom Shop Stratocaster is made in the United States in the Fender custom shop and is identical to the guitars that Cray currently plays, while the Robert Cray Standard Stratocaster is a less-expensive model made in Fender's Ensenada, Mexico plant. Cray had the opportunity to play alongside John Lee Hooker on his album Boom Boom, playing the guitar solo in the song "Same Old Blues Again". He is also featured on the Hooker album, The Healer; he plays a guitar solo on the song "Baby Lee". The entire Robert Cray Band backs Hooker on the title track of Hooker's 1992 album Mr. Lucky, where Cray plays lead guitar, sings, and banters with Hooker throughout the song. Cray played with Eric Clapton, Buddy Guy, Jimmie Vaughan, and Stevie Ray Vaughan at the Alpine Valley Music Theatre in East Troy, Wisconsin, performing "Sweet Home Chicago". This was Stevie Ray Vaughan's final performance before he died in a helicopter accident later that night.

Returns & Exchanges
This isn't a problem. If you need to change size or colour or design, or just fancy a refund, its all cool. I can sort all of this out for you.
When returning an item it must arrive with us in it’s original condition. Wearing it down the pub on a Friday night out, getting it covered in Guinness and setting light to it via a badly rolled reefer, then returning it on Monday, is understandable, but not allowed by the karma pixies who govern our lives. And we don't want to upset the karma pixies now, do we?
If your item is in any way faulty then please contact me immediately, send a photo of the issue and I will get a replacement organised. You won't have to send it back to us. For clarity, the concept of faulty does not include stains from a lamb dhansak you have spilled down yourself after consuming 8 pints of lager.
Before making a return, please email me firstname.lastname@example.org with your order number, and what you want to happen - a refund, or a different size/colour/design. I can then make it happen because I am all powerful, can change my clothes in a phone box and can fire spider webs from places I didn't know I even had. Possibly.
You will always be dealing with me, Johnny, because DJTees is so small and niche that I do all admin. Don't worry, I don't bite, or at least not unless you are a sausage. I do bite sausages.
If you'd love a t-shirt but are totally skint, drop me a line and I'll see what I can do.
We print everything to order and don't hold any stock of anything. That would be mad. Almost all orders are printed within 2 or 3 working days (this doesn't include weekends and public holidays), occasionally as long as 4 days if we have run out of a size or colour t-shirt and stock is delayed in arriving.
EU CUSTOMERS PLEASE NOTE: From 1st July 2021, EU-based customers might have to pay local rate VAT on their order before delivery.
Please do not order unless you are prepared to pay the VAT
