The label on this t-shirt is the black and white version which was used on the first pressing of Tubular Bells. Later issues were the more famous colour version. It was the debut album by Mike Oldfield, released on Virgin Records on 25 May 1973. Apart from occasional vocal contributions, the album is essentially an instrumental record, consisting of two musical compositions in excess of twenty minutes each, one on each side of the original vinyl release. It is notable for the fact that Oldfield, only 19 years old when it was recorded, played almost every instrument on the album himself. Tubular Bells was also the first release on the Virgin label and its success played an important part in the company's subsequent growth. Although sales of the album during its first few months were slow, it gained global attention when its introduction was used briefly but memorably on the soundtrack to the Academy Award-winning film The Exorcist which was released in North America in December 1973 and in the UK three months later. The album became a worldwide success during 1974, reaching number one in the UK, Australia and Canada, and number three on the US Billboard 200. It ended the decade as the third best-selling album of the 1970s in the UK.Tubular Bells is estimated to have sold in excess of 15 million copies worldwide, with sales of more than 2.6 million in the UK alone. The album's contribution to British musical history was recognised when Oldfield played extracts from Tubular Bells and its sequels live during the 2012 Summer Olympics opening ceremony in London.

Returns & Exchanges If you need to change size or colour or design, or just fancy a refund, it’s all cool. I can sort all of this out for you. But, as of 8th Jan 2024 we have had to introduce a handling fee of £5 for returns, which will be deducted from your refund. So before ordering - please measure your size and choose correctly - see size chartWhen returning an item it must arrive with us in it’s original condition. Wearing it down the pub on a Friday night out, getting it covered in Guinness and setting light to it via a badly rolled reefer, then returning it on Monday, is understandable, but not allowed by the karma pixies who govern our lives. And we don't want to upset the karma pixies now, do we? If your item is in any way faulty then please contact me immediately, send a photo of the issue and I will get a replacement organised. For clarity, the concept of faulty does not include stains from a lamb dhansak you have spilled down yourself after consuming 8 pints of lager. For faulty items there will be no return fee. I can then make it happen because I am all powerful, can change my clothes in a phone box and can fire spider webs from places I didn't know I even had. Possibly.
